Support FAQ

This is a short selection of questions and answers that may be of use to you. Feel free to email "support" at genedavissoftware.com and ask further questions.

I've purchased a download of the full shogi game. Where is the emailed link? The link is generally mailed within 24 hours of purchase. If you don't see the download link in your email, check your spam folder. Commercial email looks a lot like spam and even the best email programs occasionally confuse the two.

Also, ask your ISP's Tech Support if they have filtered out emails from Gene Davis Software and request that they forward any emails you missed to your account.

How do I improve the games graphics on Mac OS X 10.4? Sometimes the display of game pieces on Mac OS X 10.4 is pixilated. This is due to a bug in Mac OS X 10.4's implementation of Java 1.4. Luckily, if you are up to date with the system's software updates, you have Java 1.5 on your system.

To use the newer Java version with the shogi game, select "Show Package Contents" of the shogi game icon's context menu. Navigate to the file "Info.plist" and open it with a text editor such as XCode. Change the JVMVersion (this probably is two lines) so that it reads:
<key>JVMVersion</key><string>1.5+</string>
and save.
